With more than 30 years of experience at enterprise and consumer-direct companies, Jay has a passion for building client-centric growth companies at the nexus of financial services and technology, while leveraging the powerful combination of people and digital resources.
As chief executive officer at ÃÛѨÊÓƵ, Jay leads one of the nation’s top independent wealth planning and workplace investment advisory firms, comprised of approximately 1,500 employees, including more than 650 financial planners, client service associates and analysts. The business he oversees works with many of the nation’s largest employers and top retirement plan recordkeepers, while providing employees and clients with institutional quality asset management, proprietary technology, and access to world-class personal financial planning. In his role, Jay is focused on building upon the firm’s distinguished legacy and pioneering platform by leveraging innovation to help improve the experiences and financial outcomes for more people. He is proud to lead a firm that puts its clients’ best interests first, and he believes every person deserves to move their financial life forward.
Prior to ÃÛѨÊÓƵ, Jay helped grow the financial planning-driven and tech-enabled retail wealth management pioneer, Personal Capital. Since April 2017, he served as that firm’s chief executive officer and guided its successful acquisition by Empower, a top retirement plan recordkeeper. Jay helped create Personal Capital in 2009 and previously served as the chief operating officer and chief information officer.
Earlier in his career, Jay served as chief information officer of E-LOAN, Inc., a multibillion-dollar consumer lending platform, where he led the build-out of the consumer-direct banking platform. He also held the roles of chief operating officer and chief technology officer at Myers Internet, a B2B SaaS enterprise platform for small and midsized business financial services companies; chief information officer at Provident Funding Associates, a mortgage wholesaler; and director of technology, National Risk Management Services at PwC, where he led the project/knowledge management software integration for the firm and its FORTUNE 100 enterprise clientele. Jay started his career at Chevron Corporation as a production and financial analyst for their U.S. production company.
Jay earned a Bachelor of Arts in business economics from University of California, Santa Barbara, with a concentration in accounting. He is a Certified Public Accountant in the state of California (inactive status) and has served in a number of board and advisory roles for early-through public stage companies.
