Carissa Caramanis
Lead Writer, Digital Content and Education Center
With more than 30 years of experience in content and communications, Carissa is the lead writer for the ÃÛѨÊÓƵ digital content team.
Carissa joined ÃÛѨÊÓƵ in 2022 to lead content development for the Education Center and to support digital content growth. She took her first paid newswriting job at the age of 16 and has been writing ever since, having worked in print and digital media as well as television and radio. Carissa previously led global marketing communications for two multinational companies and then started and ran her own consulting business, specializing in content, brand storytelling and social media strategy. She led social media community and content for several businesses, including a Fortune 50 health care brand. Prior to joining EFE, she was the Brand Studio content lead at Commonwealth Financial Network, where she led the development of educational content for financial advisors and their clients.
Carissa is driven to tell well-crafted stories that inform and inspire action. As a divorced mother, she’s passionate about empowering everyone—and especially single women, who have historically trailed their male counterparts in financial literacy—to take an active and engaged role in their own financial journey. She also hopes to inspire readers to enable future generations and more of the traditionally underserved communities to make financial literacy a priority.
Carissa earned a Bachelor of Science degree in journalism from Boston University, is a certified advanced community manager and has presented on digital content and engagement at several national conferences. She has been featured on numerous podcasts and blogs, and her work has garnered many industry awards, including the national JIA Editor’s Award, Silver SABRE Award, three Communicator Awards (including the Crystal Award of Excellence) and three Bell Ringer Awards. She is the proud mother of an Emmy Award-winning daughter, who is studying digital and broadcast journalism at Syracuse University. Carissa lives just outside her beloved city of Boston, where she can often be found cheering on the Red Sox at Fenway Park.
